Downtown Vancouver will be getting a new oyster bar and shop this spring.

The Vancouver Island–based Fanny Bay Oysters, which has operated for 30 years, will be opening its first retail outlet and restaurant in Vancouver at 762 Cambie Street within the first two weeks of May.

By phone, general manager Brian Yip said that this will be the company's first Lower Mainland location.

What will also be new for them is the creation of a 50-seat restaurant with an oyster bar, which will feature raw and cooked oysters, as well as other shellfish such as mussels, clams, and scallops.

Yip said the restaurant will be a "tide-to-table concept", featuring all products farmed from Vancouver Island.

Meanwhile, the Vancouver store will sell the same items available at their Vancouver Island shop, which offers live, shucked, fresh, and frozen oysters and clams, as well as scallops, shrimp, prawns, cod, sole, snapper, salmon, and crab when available in season.

Fanny Bay Oysters is part of the Washington state–based Taylor Shellfish Farms family, which also runs three oyster bars in Seattle and a clam and oyster bar in Shelton, Washington.
