A new foodie extravaganza is coming to our city during one of the hottest months of the year.

Originally known as Food Cart Fest, the gourmet summer event has rebranded to YVR Food Fest, which will run from August 5 to 7, 2016.

In addition to rebranding, the food festival has also expanded to include a long-table dinner, food talks, private dinners, and cocktail parties.

“YVR Food Fest’s new direction expands on our previous work by including different communities, generating dialogue, and pushing boundaries around food culture,” said Ernesto Gomez of Arrival Agency, the company responsible for organizing the festival, in a press statement.

The long-table dinner is a signature event at the food festival, which will be held outdoors at Science World on August 6. Guests will enjoy a 10-course tasting dinner paired with top wineries from the province.

If you’re looking to learn more about food and culinary topics, the festival’s new Food for Thought speaker series will teach you a thing or two about what you’re eating. Chefs, farmers, entrepreneurs will speak at the Omnimax Theatre at Science World to share food-related stories.

The flagship event of the food festival will be Street Food Showdown, a two-day gathering with more than 80 food carts, restaurants, wineries, and breweries in Olympic Village. Attendees will be able to try an unlimited tasting menu for two-hours—so be prepared to enter a food coma after your eating binge.
