TWG Tea: Singaporean-based tea company set to open first North American location in Vancouver
Tea aficionados around town will be happy to know that a new tea salon is set to open in Downtown Vancouver this winter.
TWG Tea (which stands for The Wellbeing Group) will make its North American debut by opening its first tea salon and boutique in Vancouver, which will be located at 1070 West Georgia Street.
Previously occupied by the Urban Tea Merchant, the space will be similarly modelled after other TWG tea salons around the world—think bold colours paired with old-world luxury décor.
Consumers will be able to find high-quality tea blends in TWG Tea’s collection that includes over 800 varieties of blends and harvest. Tea accessories, afternoon tea sets, tea-infused patisseries and savoury items will also be available at the tea salon and boutique.
"In response to demand for exquisite quality tea, TWG Tea continues to extend its reach globally,” said Taha Bouqdib, TWG Tea president, CEO & co-founder, in a press statement. “Our latest expansion will see TWG Tea opening in Canada, a burgeoning market where tea consumption is on the rise with a growing shift towards fine teas among North American consumers.”
This luxury tea brand might seem familiar to well-travelled Vancouverites, because its tea salons are located in many major cities such as Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taipei and Manila, among others.
VanSing Distribution Group will be the exclusive franchise partner and distributor of TWG Tea in Canada. Owned and operated by Tom and Karinna James, the duo are no strangers to the restaurant industry—they were also the owners of the Urban Tea Merchant that specialized in offering luxury teas and seasonal afternoon tea menus.
TWG Tea’s Vancouver location is scheduled to open its doors in early December.
