B.C.’s fascination with craft brewing may have spawned an advent-style 24-pack, but if beer isn’t your thing, you can always count down to the holidays with a few glasses bottles of vino.

That’s 25 bottles of red, white, and pink, to be exact, thanks to the return of New District’s wine advent calendar. After selling out its debut iteration in only five days last year, the Vancouver-based startup has once again curated a fresh selection of wines to whet the appetites of self-described wine-os and wannabe sommeliers leading up to Christmas.

This year’s calendar features bottles from as far as France, South Africa, and Australia, as well as B.C. names from the Okanagan Valley. Valued at up to $100 each, the bottles come carefully wrapped in tissue and nestled in three fancy (and reusable!) wooden cases.

Starting December 1, New District will release a video on its website revealing that day’s wine selection. Recipients of the calendar may also read up on the vino online and record tasting notes and food pairings in the enclosed 25-day fold-out calendar.

New District’s wine advent calendar retails for $950, plus tax, and is now available online and at the company’s retail store at 5650 Dunbar Street. Delivery within B.C. is free.

Boxes ordered by November 20 are guaranteed to arrive at their destinations by December 1.
