Two winners from Canadian TV cooking competitions are continuing to expand their local restaurant empire.
Top Chef Canada winner Matthew Stowe from Cloverdale and MasterChef Canada champion David Jorge from Surrey teamed up on menus for the modern steakhouse S+L Kitchen + Bar, operated by the Joseph Richard Group.
The first location opened in Langley in January 2016.
A second location opened on December 23 at 200–2070 Sumas Way in the Abbotsford Village Shopping Centre.
The restaurants offer a casual, upscale environment with a locally inspired menu covering everything from Wagyu beef and AAA Canadian Black Angus steaks to the S+L cheeseburger, roasted carrot ravioli, or Fraser Valley roasted beet salad.
Seafood selections include specialty oysters, pan-fried sablefish, crispy sushi rice (with albacore tuna), prawn tacos, lobster and prawn linguine, and more.
There's also a brunch menu that features the likes of açai power bowls, Wagyu eggs benedict, and banana bread French toast.
There's even Jorge's winning dish: fried chicken with bourbon bacon corn and mashed potatoes.
Showing no signs of slowing down, a third location is slated to open in south Surrey this year.
