If you’re planning to get out of town for this year’s Canada Day long weekend, then you’ll be missing out on one of the biggest summer food events in the city.

The 2017 YVR Food Fest returns to Vancouver from June 29 to July 3 at Olympic Village (215 West 1st Avenue)—foodies can mark this down now in their calendars.

“As YVR Food Fest expands, our goal is to include different communities, generate dialogue and push boundaries around food culture,” said Ernesto Gomez of Arrival Agency, the Vancouver-based company that produces the festival, in a press statement. “With the help of the top food and beverage minds in our city, we hope to turn the festival into one of North America’s leading destination food events.”

Programming for the multi-day event includes Food For Thought—a food-focused speaker-style series (June 29); a long-table dinner featuring local and international culinary talent (June 30); a Canada Day barbecue accompanied by live music (July 1); and the largest outdoor brunch in the city’s history (July 3).

But the star of the show is the festival’s flagship event—the Street Food Showdown (July 2). More than 80 food carts and restaurants will offer tasting menu items, and attendees will also be able to quench their thirst with drinks from breweries, wineries, and distilleries.

“We’ve added so many new events this year and they’re all happening at our amazing location in the Olympic Village. With such a diverse array of programming and talent involved, it will create a really amazing energy in Olympic Village throughout the weekend,” said Gomez.
