Food-lovers should know that there is a snack exhibit taking place in Metro Vancouver right now, and it features larger-than-life food displays.
Metropolis Tasty Treats at Metropolis at Metrotown (4700 Kingsway) is a 10-day food exhibit (August 11 to 20) that showcases gigantic snack art displays, such as an eight-foot doughnut, a lollipop tree, life-sized gummy bears, and a seven-foot gumball machine.
The colourful and whimsical exhibit will greet shoppers with sweet and salty snack samplings throughout its run, with treats from vendors such as Cupcakes, Wishing Treats, Qoola, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Dairy Queen, Booster, Juice, Starbucks, and more.
The jumbo gumball machine holds 22,000 candy jawbreakers, and you can get one for just 25 cents. All of the money collected from it will be donated toward the Burnaby Neighbourhood House—a volunteer-driven and community-based social service agency that provides support and services to new immigrants, seniors, and youth.
If you have a knack for guessing treats in a jar, check out the event’s jellybean case. If you can guess how many hundreds of those chewy delights are inside the display case, you have a chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree.
We have a feeling that this sweet exhibit will be the backdrop for many Instagram and social media posts. Who can resist taking a photo with a large doughtnut?
