Uber is delivering free ice cream directly to Vancouverites' doors this Friday (August 25)

Vancouver is still void of the ride-hailing services that have been operating in the rest of the developed world for what seems like a lifetime now, but at least we’ll be able to get our hands on an ice-cream sandwich delivered by the leading app in ridesharing tomorrow (August 25).

In a move that is likely meant to soften up Vancouverites to the prospect of it—and other ride-hailing services—entering the province, Uber will be delivering free ice-cream sandwiches from Earnest Ice Cream to anyone who opens the Uber app and hits “Request Ice Cream”.

The deal is on for one day only, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., while supplies last. Every request prompts two ice-cream sandwiches to be driven directly to the user’s door.

Uber is even sweetening the offer by pledging to donate $1 to the Vancouver Sun Children’s Fund for every person—up to 3,000, anyway—that requests ice-cream through the app.

The only catch? You have to be located in the designated zone pictured below.

      Happy ice-cream-hailing!
