Consider it a warmup to Thanksgiving: local Mexican eatery La Taqueria will be celebrating National Taco Day (October 4) with a two-for-one special on its entire taco menu from 3 to 6 p.m. (Yes, that means it’s time to dig out the stretchy pants.)

All four of La Taqueria’s Lower Mainland locations (586 Hornby Street; 2549 Cambie Street; 322 West Hastings Street; and 1305 Welch Street, North Vancouver) will be participating in the deal. Guests will be able to choose from eight meat or vegetarian tacos, including the authentic Mexican Carintas, which combines pork confit and pickled onion, and the Rajas Con Crema, which uses roasted poblano peppers, creamed corn, and sour cream. Tacos start at $2.50 each.

During this time, the Mexican chain will also be hiding taco-themed prize packs and gift certificates near its outposts. Those keen to score a freebie can look to La Taqueria’s Instagram page for hints throughout the day. The hunt begins on October 4 at 11 a.m.

In addition, La Taqueria has announced that it will be donating $1 from its margarita sales to earthquake-relief efforts in Oaxaca, Mexico, which was struck by an 8.1-magnitude earthquake two weeks ago, from this Friday (September 22) to September 29.

Margaritas start at $7 and are available at all restaurant locations minus North Vancouver.
