Earls Kitchen + Bar (various locations) has appointed David Stansfield as its new sommelier.

The Vancouver-based sommelier is also a wine writer and educator, with 20 years of experience in the industry (Vancouver Urban Winery and Tap & Barrel).

“Choosing wine is tough,” said Stansfield in a press statement. “And that’s too bad because wine is fun. Finding a familiar favourite, or something new and exciting, should be just as fun as drinking it.”

The restaurant chain’s new wine program “Earls Rebel and Icon” kicks off tomorrow and runs through November 7, 2017. It will showcase some classic wines as well as up-and-coming modern wines.

“Like the world of wine, Earls is evolving. Our wine program is a part of that evolution,” said Stansfield. “To our line-up of classic wines, we’re adding exciting new options…maybe your new favourite wine. As always, we continue to offer incredible value for wine lovers of all styles.”

Stansfield will oversee the wine program at each Earls’ location in Canada and the U.S., and will customize a wine list based on the guests, community, and season.
