Andina Brewing turns off the taps

Popular craft brewery Andina has closed for good.

The Powell Street brewery and taproom originally shut down in April “until further notice,” with its last Instagram post announcing the closure. According to Vancouver is Awesome, the owners had “a dispute with the landlord” that they were unable to resolve.

Andina was founded by Colombian brothers Andrés and Nicolàs Amaya in 2017 along with their wives, Rocio and Claudia. From its name (a word for women from the Andes) to its logo (La Pola, created by Colombian illustrator Leo Espinosa) to its menu (featuring plantain chip nachos and arepas), the brewery was a love letter to the country through and through.

It’s yet to be seen if the family-run business can find a new spot in Vancouver to keep their award-winning brews flowing. If that doesn’t happen, we’ll miss ya, Andina.
