Let’s be honest: downtown Vancouver is a bit of a shit show at the best of times, let alone during the holiday season. But imagine a place, in the heart of it all, that feels like it is a world away.
That’s the feeling of walking into Batch at Granville Plaza. Up some stairs next to Waterfront Station, Batch—arguably Vancouver’s coziest pop-up bar—instantly quiets the honking, the traffic, the rain, the people yelling on their cellphones. Holiday stress, be gone.
A heated tent, fire pits, twinkling lights, communal tables, views of Canada Place and the port, and live music all contribute to the festive vibe of the space. For drinks there are winter staples like mulled wine, along with a great selection of craft beer (including non-alc options) and BC wines.
For food, Rosie’s BBQ & Smokehouse food truck is on the scene, serving up incredible brisket sliders and other succulent bites.
Batch’s first location at the Plaza of Nations is also open for a winter stint, offering the same magical vibes in an otherwise underused part of the city. Maybe we can have nice things.
