The former home of Vij's and Rangoli is almost ready to serve Indian cuisine once again.

That's because the newest Bombay Bar + Kitchen restaurant is on the verge of opening at 1480 West 11th Avenue in the South Granville neighbourhood.

The restaurant's management has sent an invitation to food writers for a pre-opening "taster"

That's a sure sign that it's about to welcome diners—and you can expect a bunch of articles to come after these food writers belly up for their free treats.

Another Bombay Kitchen + Bar is already operating at 1018 Commercial Drive.

"The new location will offer a tasty menu created by our chefs as is customary in our Commercial Drive location," the invitation says. "However, the real twist will be with our Endless Feast."

This Endless Feast will include about a dozen items each day, with the offerings changed each week.

Back in 1994, Vij's restaurant opened in the South Granville neighbourhood, followed by a multitude of positive reviews from food writers far and wide.

It remained in the neighbourhood for two decades before moving to its current location at 3106 Cambie Street in 2015.

In 2004, the owners, Vikram Vij and Meeru Dhalwala, opened a casual Indian eatery, Rangoli, next door, also to great acclaim.

It moved into Vij's old location at 1480 West 11th following the launch of the new dining room on Cambie.

During the pandemic, Rangoli closed its doors in the South Granville neighbourhood and was consolidated into Vij's Cambie Street restaurant.
