On November 4, 2020, Central City Brewers and Distillers announced the temporary closure of two pubs.

These are the Red Racer Taphouse in Vancouver, and the Central City Taphouse in Surrey.

“At this time Central City elected to close these locations due to the market conditions that have affected the hospitality industry because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty that has resulted,” the company stated in a news release.

Central City Brewers and Distillers began in 2003 as a brewpub in what is now the Central City Taphouse location in Surrey’s Central City mall.

Ten years later, it opened a new state-of-the-art brewery in 2013 on Bridgeview Drive in Surrey.

With that development, the brewpub at Central City mall started to run as a stand-alone restaurant.

Central City Brewers and Distillers has now decided to sell the assets of the Surrey pub.

A listing on the restaurantbusinessbroker.ca site puts the price of the food and beverage establishment at $98,000.

The listing notes that the place features 800 seats.

The sale covers only the assets of the business, which include kitchen facilities.

The sale comes with two liquor licenses.

The name of the business is not part of the deal.

The establishment measures 8,500 square feet.

Lease is “approximately $35,500” per month.
