Havana’s Halloween pop-up promises trick-or-treat cocktails for the season
Great news, ghouls and ghosts: there’s somewhere in town to drink where you don’t have to dress up as a regular person. Just say you’re wearing your Halloween costume.
Havana’s annual Halloween pop-up returns this year as the Haunted Mansion, which runs from October 20 to 21 and again from 27 to 31. And yes, patrons are encouraged to come by in costume.
There’s a range of four specially crafted, seasonally appropriate cocktails to knock your spooky socks off, including a zero-proof option, and a shot that, per a press release, is “to be consumed at one’s own risk.” Which raises the question of: what’s the scariest thing you can legally get away with putting in a shot? Hot sauce? Extra-spiky ice cubes? That Dawson City mummified toe?
While the specific drinks are under (mummy) wraps, Havana’s dedication to Cuban flavours suggests there will likely be some Latin flair in the mix—though whether the spirits are of the alcoholic or apparition variety remains to be seen.
Also on the menu is the 1 Trick, 3 Treats cocktail, where guests pull from a candy bowl to see what drink they’ll get. With a one-in-four odds of getting tricked, it’s a Russian roulette of randomness.
But that’s the fun of Halloween, right?
