Natural wine spot Juice Bar is closing (for now)
Where are all the natty wine fanatics and well dressed Instagrammers going to go now?
Juice Bar, the expertly hip natural wine bar that takes over Gastown’s The Birds & The Beets cafe in the evenings, has announced that it’s closing down.
“After six amazing, action-packed years operating out of the @ the birds and the beets,” the bar said in an announcement on Instagram, “it is time for this chapter of JB to come to an end.”
Juice Bar became known around the city for its incredible natural wine list, showcasing a wide variety of low-intervention and organic pours (both local and international) with serious body, complexity, and funk. The people, understandably, are heartbroken to see it go.
“Nothing better than hanging out on the Juice Bar patio on a hot sticky night with a glass of natty vino,” one commenter wrote on the announcement post.
“This just rocked my world,” wrote another.
Fans can rest assured, though, that the bar won’t be gone for long; it is currently on the hunt for a new space under the direction of vinophile and current Juice Bar employee Monique Levesque. And going into Juice Bar’s evening slot at The Birds & The Beets is a new wine concept called Bar Tartare that is (hopefully) coming soon.
Juice Bar’s last pour in its current location will be on September 29, and promises the uncorking of some cool cellar bottles. Arrive early, and look hot.
