Giovane Café, Eatery, and Market, located on the lobby level of the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Coal Harbour, will soon relaunch as a wine bar inspired by Northern Italian food and wine.

Kitchen Table Restaurants acquired the café in August 2020, and temporarily shuttered it before reopening it under the new management by the end of that month.

The design, food and drink menus, and service of the forthcoming Giovane Bacaro, set to open this spring, all draw upon the offerings of Venice.

This new incarnation will include a wine bar, dining room, and lounge.

The wine list will offer by-the-glass options of wines from the Veneto and Piemonte regions.

With menus inspired by bàcari (simple Venetian wine bars or restaurants) and cicchetterias (bars serving small dishes called cicchetti), the seasonal rotating menus will offer selections ranging from small bites to large-plate offerings.

There everything from Italian panini and tramezzini (Italian finger sandwiches without crusts) to salads and pasta dishes, not to mention classic and modern dolci (sweets).

The bar will feature a menu of aperitivi, inspired by traditional Italian culture and the new Aperitivo movement, to educate guests with a choice of chilled Italian vermouths.

For those preferring caffeine, the new Giovane Caffè will provide espresso-based beverages and caffè speciali (thanks to a Victoria Adruino Eagle One espresso machine) ranging from mandorlatte and marocchino to bicerin and affogato.

Kitchen Table Group operates several restaurants in Vancouver, including Pizzeria Farina, Ask For Luigi, Di Beppe, and Farina a Legna. Kitchen Table is preparing to open Miantiao in the Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver this spring.
