PSA: This is your last weekend to drink alcohol on Vancouver’s beaches

    1 of 1 2 of 1

With the magic of August slipping away like a bottle of wine (SORRY), the Labour Day long weekend can really feel like a last summer hurrah. You can make the most of it with a bunch of events happening around town, or you can soak up your final chance to crack that Superflux Colour & Shape IPA on the beach without fear of the four-wheeled police.

Consider this your warning that the City of Vancouver’s Alcohol on Beaches pilot program ends on September 4. The pilot’s findings (including feedback from site staff and the public) will then be reviewed, and eventually presented to the Park Board. What will come of that? Only time will tell, but one can only hope that something more permanent will be put in place.

Don’t worry too much, though: you can still sip on that Culmina Family Estate Winery 2020 malbec (as long as it’s been pre-corked and poured into a plastic container, as glass vessels are not permitted) in designated areas at many of our city’s parks between 11am and 9pm daily.
