Never underestimate the power of chocolate—indulging in a sweet treat can turn even the worst of days around. Dessert enthusiasts know that nibbling on confectionary and pastries can boost your mood in ways you never could have imagined.

For those with a sweet tooth, is a second home—it’s much more than a European-style café that serves fine chocolates, macarons, and pastries. Thierry currently has two Vancouver locations, one in Mt. Pleasant and another on Alberni Street. It will soon be opening a third café in West Vancouver’s Ambleside neighbourhood.

In this year’s Golden Plates awards, voted on by readers of the Straight, Thierry won first place in the categories of “Best Desserts” and “Best Patisserie”. We’re sure Vancouverites are hooked on its chocolate éclairs, lemon tarts, banana coffee almond cake, and tiramisu.

Behind the handmade chocolates and baked goods is chef Thierry Busset, one of the most renowned pastry chefs in North America. His passion and expertise for baking can be noticed in each bite.

Every mouthwatering creation found on its menu is made daily with locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. In the summer, expect to find several baked goods that feature juicy B.C. berries.

In addition to pastries, Thierry offers Barista-crafted espresso, liquid chocolate, and other warm beverages that will perfectly accompany your salted caramel macaron. Like all of the other treats, macarons are prepared daily, using only premium ingredients. They can be purchased individually or in packs of seven or 12—the ultimate hostess or birthday gift.

The café also boasts an assortment of savoury baked goods, sandwiches, quiches, and soup. Both locations are licensed to serve a selection of wine and spirits.
