Planetary Burger has filed an application with the City of Vancouver for an increase in the vegan establishment’s seating capacity.

The 3088 Main Street joint, which offers plant-based burgers, fries and shakes, currently seats eight, including at its patio.

According to Planetary Burger’s Luke Evanow, his team wants to have 25 inside and out.

“We’re just adding a few seats,” Evanow told the Georgia Straight by phone.

      Planetary Burger opened last year.

An operational letter included in the joint’s application for a development permit states that the increased seating will allow it to “create a sustainable business model”.

According to Planetary Burger, customers want more seating and “build a sense of community with other like minded guests”.

“We exist to nourish our communities and allowing us to have more customers on the premise[s] makes our start up business viable,” the establishment stated in its letter.

Planetary Burger is temporarily closed because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Evanow told the Straight that the establishment is reopening by the end of this week.
