Swedish metal legends Amon Amarth bring Valhalla to Vancouver

European metal bands can make a killing on the continent, where they can non-stop tour between mid-sized towns barely two hours away from each other and attract enough British/German/Norwegian metal-heads from the surrounding area to drink a venue dry.

So when one of Sweden’s biggest metal bands announce they’re heading across the Atlantic, you know it’s gotta be for a good reason.

Melodic death metal titans Amon Amarth have announced their biggest North American tour since forming in 1992, with a stop at Vancouver’s PNE Forum on April 27, 2024.

The Metal Crushes All tour spans five weeks of chaos, with 24 dates across central and western US, including shows in both Edmonton and Calgary but none for Toronto or Montreal.

“We are bringing a massive show that will leave your cities in ashes,” says the band in a statement. “Come out to the shows and party like Vikings and raise your horns with us.”

Joining the 12-album-deep behemoths on tour are a number of other heavyweight hard-hitters, each with names written in fonts more indecipherable than the last: death metal icons Cannibal Corpse, 40-years-young scene legends Obituary, and Texan upstarts Frozen Soul.

Pre-sale tickets and VIP upgrades are on sale now, with general sale starting at 10am on Friday (December 8). Tickets are available here.
