McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Vancouver Airport (7899 Templeton Station Road, Richmond), British Columbia’s first designer-outlet mall, has announced that it will commence its second phase of construction this spring, which will add a whopping 84,000 square feet to the shopping centre.

Once construction is complete in spring 2019, the outlet will total an impressive 324,000 square feet and will be home to 100-plus luxury, premium, and lifestyle brands. The company also predicts that the expansion will create 400 jobs for the region’s construction and retail sectors.

McArthurGlen Designer Outlet will remain open during the construction period, offering shoppers year-round savings of up to 70 percent on a selection of apparel, accessories, and other products. At the moment, the location, which is operated through a partnership between the European-based McArthurGlen Group and the Vancouver Airport Authority, features more than 70 stores for labels like Polo Ralph Lauren, Ted Baker, Coach, and Lipault.

The expansion will connect to the east of the existing centre and continue McArthur Glen’s European design, which boasts an open-air village style, luxury piazzas, and cobblestone walkways.

“The Designer Outlet Centre not only creates jobs and encourages tourism for our local community, it is one of the ways we look at generating revenue outside of airport operations with the goal of keeping costs for our passengers and airlines low,” said Scott Norris, vice president of commercial development at Vancouver Airport Authority, in a media release.

McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Vancouver Airport opened in July 2015, attracting thousands of people during its opening weekend. The centre is located 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver via the Canada Line and just 10 minutes from Richmond's city centre.
