Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Fairmont Vancouver Airport once again garnered top honours in the 2018 Skytrax World Airport Awards, held on March 21 in Stockholm, Sweden.

YVR was named best airport in North America for its ninth consecutive year. It was also named in third place for best airport staff and came third in the 20-30 million category.

In a list of the top 100 airports in the world, Vancouver came in at number 14, dropping one spot from last year.

The top four international spots went to airports in Asia: Singapore Changi Airport, South Korea's Incheon International Airport, Tokyo International Airport Haneda, and Hong Kong International Airport.

Meanwhile Fairmont Vancouver Airport was named the top airport hotel in North America and also came in fourth place in international standings. The hotel won the top North American spot for its seventh year.

The awards are based on 13.73 million airport survey questionnaires conducted with airline passengers and hotel guests which evaluated elements such as check-in, arrivals and departures, transfers, security and immigration, and more. Hotels were assessed for overall experience, staff, sleep quality, in-room amenities, value, and more.

The survey was conducted in English, Spanish and Chinese languages.
