Metro Vancouver is getting much more Muji.
Today (April 16), the Japanese retailer announced the opening date for its third store in B.C.
The new 6,355-square-foot space, which will be the eighth in Canada, will be located at Richmond Centre shopping mall (6551 No. 3 Road). A grand opening is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. on April 28.
Muji Canada president Toru Akita, who stated in a news release that they had received several requests for a store in Richmond, acknowledged that this location will be smaller than the other two Lower Mainland locations but that they would endeavour to "still offer a wide variety of products".
The store will carry over 4,000 items, covering homewares, clothing, and food products. This location will offer the Muji Yourself service, which enables customers to customize stationary items with stamps, and the Muji Gift service, which features a gift-bag sealing machine.
This latest entry continues a rapid expansion in the Metro Vancouver market that started in 2017.
The company opened its first store in the Lower Mainland at Burnaby's Metrotown, in a 7,770-square-foot space, in August.
Their Canadian flagship store on Robson Street opened in December. Covering 14,507-square-feet, the downtown Vancouver location became their largest store outside of Asia.
