Gaming alert: Play Borderlands 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and more for free this weekend

It’s Memorial Day weekend in the U.S., and to celebrate, Steam is making a handful of games available to play for free.

On the list are the Don’t Starve Together, the survival game developed in Vancouver by Klei Entertainment, and two of my favourites, Borderlands 2, the ridiculous and raucous shooter, and Left 4 Dead 2, the cooperative zombie survival game.

You can earn trophies by playing during Spring Cleaning, too. These include “Nostalgia” (for which you need to play a game you’ve played for more than two hours but which you haven’t played in a while) and “Blast from the past” (which has you playing the first game you added to your Steam account).

Completing “daily tasks” will level up the profile badge that you’ll unlock by getting trophies.

Also free to play this weekend are:

      • Castle Crashers
      • Cities: Skylines
      • Dead by Daylight
      • Dirt 4
      • Shadows of Mordor
      • Tyranny
