If your idea of the perfect Sunday involves waking up bright and early for a high-intensity spin session, a mind-clearing yoga class, or perhaps a leisurely yet still heart-pounding jog through the neighbourhood, well, good for you. I mean, well, have we got the event for you.
Ramping up its Canada-Day tradition of hosting al fresco yoga, the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet (7899 Templeton Station Road, Richmond) is teaming up with the Richmond Olympic Oval to offer a full morning’s worth of fitness classes on Sunday (July 1).
Three ticketed spin courses and three yoga sessions will take place at the outdoor shopping centre’s piazza between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The 45-minute classes will be followed by live entertainment from local jazz group Tim Sars Quintet. In addition, a children’s play area, family-friendly scavenger hunt, and a showcase featuring the 2010 Winter Olympic medals and torch will be available.
Guests can cool down post-workout at a special VIP lounge with complimentary refreshments, hand massages, and snacks. Of course, attendees are also welcome to shop the outlet’s 70-plus stores, which includes outposts for brands like Polo Ralph Lauren, Ted Baker, Coach, and Lipault.
Tickets to the fitness classes are $15 each and available online. The price includes fitness gear, a seven-day pass to the Richmond Olympic Oval, access to the VIP area, and a swag bag loaded with an estimated $150 worth in goodies. Partial proceeds will benefit KidSport Richmond, a Canadian nonprofit that provides financial assistance for registration fees and equipments to youth.
The McArthurGlen Designer Outlet’s Canada Day celebration takes place on Sunday (July 1) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For details, see event listing.
