Once again, it's safe to open windows and let the air come inside.

That's because Metro Vancouver has lifted an air quality advisory, thanks to smoke being pushed out of the region.

The advisory was in place for parts of the Eastern Fraser Valley since August 13 as a result of B.C. wildfires.

It was reinstated yesterday in Metro Vancouver and the Central Fraser Valley as a result of rising concentrations of fine particulates, which can lodge deep in the lungs.

"Local wildfire activity including the Mt. Hicks fire may contribute to localized smoke concentrations," Metro Vancouver said in a statement today. "We will continue to monitor conditions and if air quality deteriorates another air quality advisory may be issued.

"Smoke concentrations can vary widely across the region as winds and temperature change, and as wildfire behaviour changes."

The Mt. Hicks fire covers 42 hectares about 10 kilometres north of Agassiz above Highway 7. It's 70 percent contained.
