Abbott liquid nutritional products recalled due to possible bacterial contamination

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced on October 15 that a recall on certain Abbott brand formulated liquid nutritional products that was issued a few weeks ago has expanded to include several other products.

An initial recall was issued on September 23 for possible bacterial contamination of Abbott Two Cal HN complete balanced nutrition and Abbott Promote high-protein liquid nutrition in 235 millilitre metal cans.

The recall was launched in response to consumer complaints. There has been one illness reported related to the consumption of these products.

The list of products affected by the recall now includes (as of the October 15 announcement):

Suplena (vanilla)
PediaSure (vanilla, strawberry, chocolate)
PediaSure Plus (vanilla)
PediaSure Fibre (vanilla)
Osmolite 1.2 Cal
Jevity 1 Cal, 1.2 Cal, and 1.5 Cal
Glucerna 1.0 Cal (vanilla)
Ensure Plus (vanilla, strawberry, chocolate)
Ensure Fibre (vanilla, chocolate)
