Wow Air, an ultra-low cost airline from Iceland, is expanding its list of destinations to include Vancouver.
Beginning June 2019, the carrier will operate six weekly flights from Vancouver International Airport, with one-way fares to Reykjavik starting at $129 as part of a special promotion. Customers also have the option of flying to another one of Wow Air’s European or Asian destinations, such as Tel Aviv, Amsterdam, and New Delhi, during which they may enjoy a free stopover in Reykjavik.
“The new route in Vancouver is a testament to our commitment to pursue growth in North America, as well as connect more Canadian travellers to our growing list of overseas destinations,” Skúli Mogensen, CEO and founder of Wow Air, said in a media statement.
The travel period for Wow Air’s promotional pricing is June 2019, and from September to October 2019. Flights may be purchased beginning today (October 22). Wow Air is the second Iceland-based airline to offer service to Vancouver following Icelandair's expansion in 2013.
Founded in November 2011, Wow Air services 38 cities across Europe, Asia, and North America, including London, Berlin, Montreal, and Toronto. It was ranked the fifth best low-cost, low-haul airline in the world at the 2016 SkyTrax World Airline Awards.
