The ninth annual Vancouver Christmas Market officially kicks-off today at Jack Poole Plaza (1055 Canada Place) and runs through December 24—those who have waited all year for this festive event will have plenty of new things to check out.

This year’s German-themed holiday market has added WunderBAR to its list of attractions, an 840-square-foot enclosed tent with Christmas décor and tasty treats.

Visitors can book hour-long tastings inside this venue, which include spiced-mulled wine, charcuterie, and German desserts. The 40-person space can also accommodate private events and corporate party bookings. 

Guests will also notice a new sparkling light tunnel, which is known as Lovers’ Lane. The 20-foot long attraction features 10,000 lights adorned with mistletoe, and serves as a great photo backdrop. Located close to it is the new Love Lock installation, where visitors can attach miniature locks as a symbol of love.

Children will get to explore a new zone designated just for them: the Kinder Kraft Igloo. Presented by 4Cats Arts Studio, it offers a market-wide Christmas scavenger hunt as well as free arts and crafts.

Besides all the new additions, classic offerings such as food-and-drink huts (including new and returning vendors), the heated Alpine Lounge, Christmas Carousel, Christmas Pyramid, and the popular walk-in Christmas tree covered with 36,000 lights have also made a return.

Several special events will be taking place on different nights at the market, which range from Foodie Tuesdays to Free Carousel Fridays to a Deluxe Date Night.

The Vancouver Christmas Market runs from November 21 to December 24, 2018 (11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.); December 24 (11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.) at Jack Poole Plaza (1055 Canada Place).
