A new owner is wanted for the business of XY, a Vancouver gay bar in the West End’s Davie Village.

A listing by Restaurant Business Broker sets the price at $599,000.

Earlier this month, owner Jenn Mickey announced that XY and her other gay establishment in the neighbourhood, 1181 Lounge, will close after December 31 this year.

According to the sale listing, the liquor primary licence of XY at 1216 Bute Street allows operations from Monday to Thursday until 2 a.m., and Friday to Sunday until 3 a.m.

It also described the site as a “very high traffic location”, with a capacity of 150 people, plus a 30-seat patio.

“Located in the heart of the Davie Village in Jim Deva Plaza, XY uniquely incorporates two beautiful spaces; a high-energy dance floor and theatrical performance space and an intimate lounge with adjoining patio, each with their own DJ booths,” the listing states.

Mickey has cited high rents and “increasing challenges in obtaining hospitality insurance” as factors in the decision to close XY and 1181 Lounge.
