The volunteers at North Shore Rescue have added one more search to what's been a record-breaking year.

Last night, the group assisted a father and son find their way out of the trails near Whyte Lake.

Some of the trail markers have been removed, which might have played a role in the two hikers being confused about their location.

They were carrying a cellphone, which made it possible for them to seek help.

On December 15, North Shore Rescue was called for its 14oth search of the year, breaking the previous record of 139 set in 2015.

Its 141st call came on December 27 when it located two hikers on Grouse Mountain.
