Across B.C. the white slopes of ski resorts are increasingly being illuminated with the colours of the rainbow, thanks to LGBT Pride celebrations expanding throughout the winter season.
The latest addition to the wintry festivities is Vancouver Island Pride Weekend, to be held from February 28 to March 3 at Mount Washington in the Comox Valley.
The festival will include everything from dining, bingo, and karaoke to a charity ski race,a costume parade, and a dance party.
Entertainment includes Vancouer-based drag queen Conni Smudge, singer-songwriter Lance Lapointe, and musician-singer Jona Kristinsson.
There’s also guided skiing and snowboarding (for helping visitors become familiar with the mountain).
While Whistler Pride recently wrapped up on January 27, there are more winter Pride events on the way.
Another first will be Peak Pride to be held at Sun Peaks in Kamloops from March 1 to 3.
That will be followed by the third annual Peak Pride at Big White in Kelowna from April 5 to 7.
After that, there’s also Jasper Pride in Alberta to consider, which will run from April 25 to 28.
