On Family Day, Metro Vancouver residents can expect some sunny skies with increasing cloudiness. But by tonight, there's a 40 percent chance of flurries or rain showers.

The real commuting hassles will begin on the first regular workday following Family Day.

That's because Environment Canada has forecast snow mixed with rain in Metro Vancouver on Tuesday (February 19) morning.

There could be as much as four centimetres of snow over higher terrain.

It comes after a reprieve from the white stuff this weekend following last week's heavy and repeated snowfalls.

On Tuesday evening, the forecast calls for cloudy skies with a 70 percent chance of flurries.
