Two renowned Canadian denim brands will soon launch a highly anticipated collaboration.

Vancouver-based Dutil and Montreal-based Naked & Famous will be dropping their eyewear collection on March 22, which features limited-edition eyepieces inspired by Japanese selvedge denim.

Handcrafted by artisans in Sabae, Japan, the Dutil x Naked & Famous eyewear line is highlighted by custom three-colour laminated acetate frames in dark indigo, layered over red-and-white hues.

Three styles are available, which feature metal rivets and the Dutil compass insignia, giving the pieces a vintage vibe. Only 25 frames are created for each shape.

Although this is the first collaboration between the two brands, Dutil and Naked & Famous aren’t strangers to one another—the denim companies have worked together for over 10 years.

“It’s been nice to work with [Dutil’s] Eric Dickstein, with our shared philosophies of function and aesthetics, and we’ve created a beautiful sunglass that brings all that together,” said Brandon Svarc, founder of Naked & Famous, in a press statement.

“Brandon’s passion is contagious and Naked & Famous has been our favourite brand at Dutil,” said Eric Dickstein, founder of Dutil Denim and Dutil Eyewear, in a press statement. “Our fans will appreciate the intricacies of the sunglasses.”

The Dutil x Naked & Famous collab will be available for pre-order online on March 22, and in Dutil Denim’s brick-and-mortar shops in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto. Each limited-edition eyepiece comes in a laser-engraved case, with a custom cleaning cloth that features a Japanese technical drawing.
