It’s back to the grind on the North Shore for fitness freaks and outdoor enthusiasts.

After seasonal maintenance, Grouse Mountain and Metro Vancouver announced today (May 2) that the Grouse Grind Trail in Grouse Mountain Regional Park is set to reopen tomorrow (May 3) from 6:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for another season of agony and torture otherwise known as exercise.

Needless to say, if you’re planning to go, make sure you’re in shape.

Nicknamed Mother Nature’s Stairmaster, the extremely challenging, steep 2.9-kilometre trail (1.8 miles) consists of 2,830 stairs and ascends 853 metres (2,800 feet) with a summit at 1,127 metres (3,700 feet) above sea level.

Grouse Grinders are also recommended to wear appropriate attire (clothing items such as flip-flops, heels, jeans, costumes, and haute couture outfits are not recommended).

Dog-owners should also take note that dogs are prohibited from the trail.
