One of Western Canada’s largest HIV/AIDS organizations has a new executive director.

Positive Living Society of British Columbia announced on social media on April 24 that Victor Elkins has been appointed as its executive director.

Elkins has been a member of Positive Living’s Red Ribbon Advisory Council, previously participated in the Vancouver AIDS Walk in the 1990s, helped to secure the title sponsorship of the Hospital Employees Union for the 2018 and 2019 Vancouver AIDS Walk, and helped organize the AccolAIDS Awards Gala in 2002.

He was previously the Hospital Employees Union president from 2012 to this year.

Elkins replaces Elgin Lim, who began as executive director in September 2018 as a replacement for Ross Harvey, who retired.

Positive Living Society of B.C. was founded in 1986 as the Vancouver PWA Coalition before changing from the B.C. Persons With AIDS Society to its current name in 2011.

In February 2018, Positive Living BC opened its Positive Living Community Dental Clinic to provide dental care to people living with HIV and other underserviced communities.
