Not too hot, not too cold: the weather was just right for hundreds of Vancouver-area moms out for a run with their families and loved ones on Mother’s Day (May 12).

The BlueShore Financial Mother’s Day Run presented by the Westin Bayshore started out at Ceperley Park in Stanley Park at 9 a.m., with about 800 people doing three-, five- or 10-kilometre routes, all finishing up outside the iconic Vancouver waterfront hotel.

The event’s charity partner was Make-A-Wish British Columbia and Yukon. The organization grants life-changing wishes to kids with critical illnesses.

Besides a swag bag and a technical running shirt, all of the participating moms got to take home a designer scarf, while the post-run festival had face-painting and games, yoga and stretching, and the option to have a buffet brunch in the hotel’s grand ballroom and bid on silent-auction items. The spread featured eggs Benedict and Florentine, mini pancakes, house-made seafood and vegetarian sushi, tomato-basil-and-mozzarella salad, quinoa and feta salad, hash browns, wild salmon, pastries, and more. There was also an elaborate candy bar for the crowd's sweet tooths.
