Free daytime parking ends today on Granville Island

      The Crown corporation that operates Granville Island has changed the parking rules.

      Effective today (June 1), pay parking is in effect at all spots from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

      It will cost $3 per hour until September 30, then $2 per hour from October 1 to April 30, available in 15-minute, 30-minute, and multiple hourly periods.

      People can pay through Honk, EasyPark, and PayByPhone apps.

      It's also possible to buy a daylong parking pass at $21 until September 30. From October 1 to April 30, the price drops to $14.

      Free spots are available across the island from 6 p.m. to 11 a.m.
