Hometown heroes can be found across Canada working to make a real difference in their communities and the lives of those around them.
One of these heroes, based in Surrey, has been committed to battling childhood obesity for years and goes above and beyond to help youth lead healthy lives with proper nutrition and exercise.
With a goal to transform the eating habits of children for the better, Dr. Greg Chang founded SuperChefs Cookery for Kids, which teaches young people the essentials of balanced nutrition, food preparation, and social etiquette toward inspiring lifelong habits of both physical and social well-being.
As part of SuperChefs’ work, Dr. Chang personally coordinates free cooking and sports camps for children every summer in southern B.C. to immerse kids in the world of food, cooking, nutrition skills, and overall wellness.
In celebration of Customer Appreciation Day at TD, Dr. Chang’s incredible work is being recognized by the bank through its #TDThanksYou campaign, which is dedicated to showing appreciation for the customers who walk through the physical and virtual doors of TD every day.
"Our annual #TDThanksYou campaign gives our colleagues across the country a chance to thank our customers for choosing us to help them achieve their financial goals," said Theresa McLaughlin, Chief Marketing Officer at TD. "It's also our honour to live and work in communities where our customers are helping to make a difference."
To thank Dr. Chang, TD will host him and some of the children in his program at a special sporting event and game experience and equip his SuperChefs program with brand new pizza stones and pasta makers.
Shining a light on the tireless work of these community heroes to make their communities a better place is one way the bank is celebrating the impact that individuals like Dr. Chang can make with a whole lot of heart and purpose.
