Update: The water main was repaired by Tuesday (September 25) morning. Two eastbound lanes on West Georgia between Hornby and Howe streets will remain closed until mid-morning as a work crew repairs the hole in the pavement.

A burst water main is believed to be responsible for a spectacular shower in downtown Vancouver.

Water is shooting high in the air along West Georgia Street not far from the Hotel Georgia and Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.

It's coming out of a hole near the intersection with Hornby Street.

      Eastbound traffic is closed.
