Things are expected to get extremely blustery in Vancouver today.

After an intense cold front crossed B.C.'s south coast this morning, Environment Canada issued a wind warning for Metro Vancouver today (October 25), including Burnaby, New Westminster, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Richmond, and Delta, as well as the Southern Gulf Islands,

Winds have abruptly shifted to the northwest and range from 50 to 70 kilometres per hour, with the potential to reach up to 90 kilometres per hour near the water.

Consequently, the Vancouver Park Board announced that Stanley Park has been closed.

The seawall has been closed from Lion's Gate Bridge to Third Beach.

Stanley Park’s Halloween Ghost Train’s matinee rides have also been cancelled. The train may reopen at 5:30 p.m. Updates will be available on social media.

VanDusen Garden has also closed but plans to reopen at 5 p.m. for VanDusen Glow in the Garden. For further updates or changes, visit VanDusen's Twitter or Facebook accounts.

McCleery Golf Course at 7118 Macdonald Street in Southlands has also been closed, according to the Vancouver Park Board.

The strong winds, which were expected to peak around noon, may cause damage and are anticipated to continue into the afternoon, easing up in the evening.

Anyone can report tree or traffic signal issues by calling 311 or using the City of Vancouver’s VanConnect app.

Several B.C. Ferries sailings have been cancelled today, including on the Vancouver-Victoria (Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay) and Vancouver-Nanaimo (Horseshoe Bay-Departure Bay) routes.

For full details and updates, visit the B.C. Ferries website or Twitter account.
