The 10th annual Vancouver Christmas Market returns to Jack Poole Plaza (1055 Canada Place) today, and runs through December 24 with countless festive treats, activities, and entertainment for the entire brood.

The yuletide event is one of our city’s most popular holiday traditions, and will feature more than 80 huts offering everything from mulled wine to chimney cakes, handmade goods to seasonal décor, and much more.

New additions to this year’s market include an improved Winterdeck with lit-up seats, heaters, and photo opportunities of the North Shore. The Lovers’ Lane has also expanded to 40 feet, embedded with even more lights and mistletoe.

In terms of new food vendors, guests can expect to find turkey legs (pro-tip: get the combo that adds melted cheese on top from Cheese Me Raclette), poffertjes (mini Dutch pancakes), and pistachio cream spread, among others.

New food items to try this year include mini Dutch pancakes from Two Sweet Guys.

Returning fan-favourites is the Love Lock Installation, where market-goers can attach a Vancouver Christmas Market-themed love lock. For those who want to hunker down and enjoy their food and drink in a cozy space, head to the heated Alpine Lounge or the WunderBAR: an 840-square-foot VIP seating area with Christmas cocktails, charcuterie platters, and German desserts.

Other attractions include the Christmas Carousel, Christmas Pyramid and its “flying stage”, the gingerbread duo, Kinder Kraft Igloo, and Canada’s first walk-in Christmas tree have also made a comeback.

“We have come a long way since the very first Vancouver Christmas Market in 2010 at Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza. Initially, no one believed Vancouverites would attend an outdoor market in the wintertime. However, we persevered and welcomed more than 100,000 guests that first year!” Malte Kluetz, founder and CEO of the Vancouver Christmas Market, said in a press statement.

We don't doubt many guests will be taking photos with the gingerbread duo.
