The first search in snow has been a success for a Vancouver-area mountain rescue team.

North Shore Rescue was able to locate a woman who texted for help last evening from Eagleridge Bluffs in West Vancouver.

She was walking her dog and initially thought she had enough time to get out. But when darkness descended, she sought help.

The woman and her pooch were taken to the parking lot on Cypress Mountain just before midnight.

Eagleridge Bluffs via Black Mountain Trail is a popular 8.2-kilometre hike.
