Last month's Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week and two local Indigenous labels are featured on Vogue.com today.

In an article devoted to Indigenous streetwear, the magazine gave a shout-out to Joleen Mitton's runway event and spotlighted Okalani LeBlanc and Rob Geary's Oka and Justin Louis's Section 35 as two out of four "Native American–owned streetwear labels to watch out for in 2020".

In the piece, Leblanc talks about her line's inspiration in the Downtown Eastside, a neighbourhood that's "all-inclusive, from the poorest to the wealthiest, the young and old. The streets hold the energy and tell a story.”

Nehiyaw/Plains Cree designer Louis talks about his hand-cut-and-sewn and custom jackets, saying "I want our people to be able to see themselves reflected in streetwear."
