A rockslide closed part of highway, in an area between Cranbrook and Windermere, in southeastern British Columbia today.

The B.C. Ministry of Transportation announced this morning (December 5) that B.C. Highway 93 has been closed in both directions between Dutch Creek Road and Westside Road, near Fairmont Hot Springs.

The ministry stated that the slide occurred due to slope failure at the Dutch Creek Hoodoos and that there weren’t any injuries.

The indefinite closure will remain in place as cleanup continues and the conditions are undergoing a geotechnical assessment. A detour is not available.

For updates on conditions, visit the DriveBC website. The next update is slated for 3 p.m. (B.C. time).
