Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Metro Vancouver and parts of the Fraser Valley on Boxing Day.

But it might only appear at higher elevations.

"A front moving southward along the B.C. coast will meet a somewhat cool air mass in place over the Lower Mainland early this evening," the national weather forecaster stated. "Initially, precipitation will be a mix of snow and rain and two to four centimetres can be expected over higher terrain and in the Fraser Valley. Up to five centimetres is forecast for the eastern Fraser Valley."

Around midnight, the precipition is expected to turn into rain over Metro Vancouver. But it could continue snowing in the Fraser Valley until Friday (December 27) morning.

The snowfall is good news for the operators Grouse Mountain.

That's because morning, the Centennial, Expo, and Deliverance areas were opened to skiers and snowboarders.
