B.C. Ferries cancels sailings for B.C. south coast due to adverse wind conditions on January 15
Due to the weather conditions, numerous ferry sailings between Vancouver Island, the Southern Gulf Islands, the Sunshine Coast, Bowen Island, and Metro Vancouver have been cancelled.
B.C. Ferries stated today (January 15) on social media at 12:25 p.m. that sailings on the south coast scheduled from 3 p.m. onward had been cancelled due to 70 to 90 kilometre per hour winds.
Cancellations include trips to and from Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay and Tsawwassen), Bowen Island (Snug Cove), Sunshine Coast (Langdale), Nanaimo (Departure Bay), Victoria (Swartz Bay), and Gambier Island.
The Comox-Powell River route has been cancelled but other sailings from Powell River continue on.
The Tsawwassen Quay is also scheduled to close at 3 p.m., and food service won’t be available after that time.
