Get ready for the possibility of flash floods and plenty of water pooling on the roads.

That's because Metro Vancouver will be hit with an "intense frontal system" today, according to Environment Canada.

It will dump up to 80 millimetres of rain on the central and northeastern parts of the region, as well as on Howe Sound and the North Shore.

The rain will begin during the middle of the day and really come down hard overnight before easing on Thursday (January 23) morning.

On East Vancouver Island, up to 100 millimetres may fall.
