After a two-vehicle crash in Richmond on Friday night, investigators are seeking the public’s help in determining what caused the collision.

Richmond RCMP stated on January 30 that around 7:25 p.m. on January 24, Richmond RCMP responded to a collision between a white 2012 BMW and a black 2016 GMC Yukon at the intersection of Sidaway Road and Steveston Highway.

Drivers and passengers from both vehicles were taken to hospital with minor injuries. All four individuals were released from hospital later that evening.

According to Richmond RCMP, a dark-coloured Hyundai Santa Fe was driving behind the GMC Yukon east on Steveston Highway towards a movie theatre when a collision occurred.

The driver of the Hyundai pulled over to assist but then left before speaking with officers. Investigators would like to speak with this witness.

As the investigation continues, investigators are considering speed and driver impairment as contributing factors.

Any witnesses, including those who may have observed events leading up to it, are asked to contact Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212.

When Richmond RCMP conducted a traffic enforcement project on Sidaway Road in late November, they caught 150 out of over 200 vehicles exceeding the speed limit and impounded 10 vehicles due to excessive speeds.
